Guide · Patient transport
Billing patient transport — without paper piles, without a billing centre.
Health insurers only pay what is billed in the correct form under § 302 SGB V. With starksoft, the billing is created directly from your taxi and private hire journeys — electronically, completely and without ongoing fees to third parties.

Why patient transport costs so much administration
Patient transport is a growing, predictable business for taxi and private hire operators — but the billing is demanding.
Statutory health insurers do not accept an informal invoice: they require electronic billing under § 302 SGB V via their data acceptance offices, plus the medical prescription (form 4), an approval depending on the type of journey, and a complete assignment of every journey. Anyone doing this by hand or in Excel loses hours — and risks deductions for every formal error.
Many operators therefore hand their billing to a billing centre and permanently pay a share of their revenue for it. There is another way.
How it works with starksoft
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1 · Record the journey | The patient transport journey is driven like any other trip — journey data, tariff and patient are assigned to the journey, and the mandatory details are captured along with it. |
| 2 · Attach documents | Prescription and approval are attached digitally to the journey — nothing gets lost between vehicle and office any more. |
| 3 · Create the billing | From the collected journeys, starksoft generates the electronic billing under § 302 SGB V for the respective insurer — including the required accompanying documents. |
| 4 · Submit & track | You keep track of which billing has been submitted, paid or disputed — per insurer and per vehicle. |
Who benefits
- Operators with regular insurer-funded journeys (dialysis, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, rehabilitation sport) — the more recurring journeys, the greater the saving
- Companies that currently pay a billing centre and want to reclaim their margin
- Private hire operators entering the patient transport business — billing works the same way for taxis and private hire vehicles
And because the module is part of the starksoft platform, TSE archiving, fiscal data, working times and billing all interlock — one system instead of three isolated solutions.
